Title: Story Time and Things That Go Boom
Author: [livejournal.com profile] salienne
Rating: PG-13
Characters: Donna, Martha, Rose
Summary: Completely AU crack. The adventures of three girls and a TARDIS.
Spoilers: Journey's End, if you squint
Disclaimer: Not mine, but if it were, oh the fun I could have.
A/N: Since seeing Journey’s End (and even before), I’ve thought that Donna, Rose, Martha, and the TARDIS would be the best universe-saving group ever, and with them, who needs the Doctor anyway?

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] xsectumsemprax for word ideas and [livejournal.com profile] hippiebanana132 for some Brit-speak. Any errors, though, are mine, and feel free to point them out!

Dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] biggrstaffbunch who kicks the writing world’s communal butt, and is just overall awesome. I hope you like it, hon’!

(In which there is a bomb and strawberry daiquiris, and we find out what the Doctor and Donna really have on their backs)

Title: Learning Curve
Author: Salienne
Rating: PG
Characters: Nine/Rose

Summary: "What, so you're tellin' me that there's a world out there where pogo stick's the main mode o' transport and where they speak in jam, but there's no world out there where riding a bike's the only way to get about?"

Rose learns that somehow, the Doctor has managed to go 900 years without ever riding a bike, and just what sort of person would she be if she didn't set out to remedy that situation?

A/N: This story was written for [livejournal.com profile] doctor_rose_las. It was also my first time writing Nine, and I had lots of fun with it. So... enjoy! :) As always, comments are much appreciated.

'Seriously?' Her eyes narrowed, Rose pursued the Doctor around the console. 'You've never done it before?' )

You know...

I really, really, really like "Love and Monsters". At first I was iffy about it, but I just rewatched it today and adored it. I think it helps if you're watching it with someone else who gets very into it and giggles at all of Elton's silliness too. And I was blubbering like a baby during the ending, and I teared up during Jackie's "left behind" speech--beautiful, that scene.

And my love for Rose has been renewed. Brave and such a sweetheart.

Random thought that occured to be during "The Satan Pit" though: the Doctor believes in Rose enough to magically save herself from a rocket (albeit via an absolutely wonderful speech), yet he doesn't believe in her enough to figure out that Satan's consciousness has escaped. Makes sense, since he's under the impression that he must be the hero, dammit!, but still interesting.

I love these two. ^.^

OOOOH, and I also noticed some actual growth in Rose's S2 character (vs. just from S1 to S2). In "Tooth and Claw", she was giggling around death, squeeing and hugging and bouncing after she just watched a werewolf maul someone. She was compartmentalizing, which was just damn unhealthy (and one of my least favorite scenes, but hey). She's stopped doing that, she's dwelling in the reality of it--Mr. Jefferson is a fine example of this. But she's able to move on, and most likely talks it out off-screen, and is handling things much better. She just... really seems to grow up in the latter half of the season, something I never realized before. I like that.

I still think a bit of downtime from the Doctor in the alt!universe was good for her, but I'm even more firmly of the belief that if she were to come back now, she'd be amazing. And she and the Doctor would just click even more and be more "equal."

...I need to finish the novel and write my Doctor/Rose/Master fic. @_@ Sorry that's taking me a bit longer than anticipated, darlings!

Oh, and since I also watched "The Idiot's Lantern" today, I feel I should say a little something about this ep. Well, I adore the Doctor/Rose relationship in it, and I especially love Rose's solo investigation (...though, really, going off by yourself to the guy taking faces away? Bad idea, Rose! Bad!) and the scene where the Doctor sees faceless!Rose for the first time. Other than that... not one of my favorites, really. I think I replayed the "Yes, Tommy" scene at least ten times just to laugh at the unintentional humor. Honestly, it sounds like one of those documentaries you'd watch in school...

Tommy: (big wide eyes) "Is that an alien, Mr. Smith?"
Doctor/Mr. Smith: (all serious) "Yes, Tommy. It's *blah blah blah.*"

*giggles*

And on a completely unrelated note:

Today was my first day of APTT training (peer-counseling group that I got into), and it was pretty fun. I ate far too much today. And the people were really fun/nice. At the end of our day together, we all filled out cards about the people in our mini-groups within the main group. Apparently I'm not afraid to be myself, even when this is "unpopular." I'm vaguely musing about which part of me is unpopular, though... Bisexuality, maybe? I went on about that for a bit.

Ooooh, and I had to think up a life motto. I was proud of mine:

Be yourself, help others, and party like a rock star.

Ta mates! :)

I wonder...

From a fanfiction that I will probably never do anything with:

“Are we gonna be all right, Doctor?” Rose asked quietly. “After all that… after what happened, are we gonna be okay?”

“’Course we will,” he responded. “Give it enough time and you and I’ll be good as new, right as rain, peachy as… peaches.”

Heee, it amuses me. And it just came out so very... right. It be very Ten. :D

And now to bed! Because it's past 3 AM and I told myself I'd be asleep an hour and a half ago.

Night all!

A/N: Are you ready guys? Almost there. Just one bit left after this. I am sorry to say that I did mess up with the last chapter, though: I wanted to stick another section onto the end, and I didn’t. As such, it’s here at the beginning. I apologize if the flow is off, but I hope y’all will bear with me.

So, as always, enjoy, and comments are encouraged! Thanks so much to those who’ve been commenting! :D

Chapter 1

Okay, this is just a random thought that I doubt any of you will actually reply to (since I am obsessed and most of y'all are not) but in what ways is Joan actually like Rose? I mean, sure they look a bit alike, and sure they're both brave and clever and compassionate and strong. But beyond that...?

Rose and Martha have more in common than Rose and Joan. So when I see people saying Joan is really 1912!Rose, I get very confused. @_@ Just look at her behavior in Family of Blood with Martha... that is not Rose behavior. And look at how she associates with John Smith compared to, say, how Rose acts when first meeting Jack. And no way is Rose as mature as Joan, either. They're just... very different people, though I'm far too tired to make a detailed list as to HOW they're different right now. It's not just their respective ages and time periods (though those certainly are factors) that delegate their differences.

Just because John Smith falls in love with Joan doesn't mean she has to be Rose version 2.0 (or 0.5, since we're in the past and all). John Smith=/=Doctor, just as Mickey=/=Doctor, just as Jimmy Stone=/=Doctor, just as Reinette=/=Rose.

And that's me... being done with my half-rant, half-confuzzlement.

On another note, I'm actually working on me novel again. Yippee!!! :D

Well, since I just wrote this long comment on "The Girl in the Fireplace" and don't want to lose it, here it is, my thoughts on Reinette and the Doctor and Rose. Why am I so obsessed...?

My in-verse interpretation of TGitF (a little ranty, but I hope you'll excuse that :P) )
