Anthony Rapp
Star of the musical Rent and author of Without You
Anthony Rapp is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in the Tony Award-wining rock opera, Rent. A musical about Bohemians in the East Village of New York City, Rent explores the struggle with life, love and AIDS, and the impacts they have on America. He shared an OBIE Award with the rest of the cast for his performance.
Rapp recently completed filming Rent with other members of the original cast, directed by Chris Columbus. The film was released by Sony Pictures in November 2005 and has received rave reviews. Rapp plays Mark Cohen -- the love-struck filmmaker and narrator of the movie.
Rapp has written a book about his experiences with Rent as well as his personal struggle with losing his mother to cancer, titled, Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical "Rent."
Rapp will be in King Theatre on Tuesday afternoon, he will be reading from his book followed by a question and answer session. After his performance at Milton, Rapp will be performing at the Wang Theater.
The event is free and open to all Milton Academy faculty, staff and students."
