Why I need an external harddrive...

So I can make a House/Cameron video to "Beautiful Disaster" by Kelly Clarkson. So I can MAKE fanmade music vids, dammit. My laptop doesn't have enough room. *Grumbles*

EDIT: Why I love ebay--320 GB ext. harddrive for $110. I'm loving turning 18 (albet in a month and a half). ^.^

I've seen some decently priced external hard drives at Sam's Club and Costco.

They claim to be designed for laptops, which generally means they are "low power" devices that can run on the juice provided by your laptop's USB port.

Be aware, though, that there is a limit to how many devices you can run simultaneously. Also, if you are running the laptop on batteries, they will run out much more quickly if you attach an external harddrive that does not have its own power supply.

Also, lower power generally means slower performance. If you intend to keep the harddrive on a desk (and not take it with the laptop when you go mobile), you can get usually get more space and speed for your money if you just buy an externally-powered hard drive.

Hmmmm.... Well I'd mainly be using one at my desk, so what I'm looking for is how much the harddrive holds more than anything. I should probably tell my dad that...
