Two things, just two things to say

2. ...But is it against some weird universal law for the Doctor to be happy? I mean, seriously. The episode tells us he's not alone, but at the same time, it puts the Doctor through hell and never gives him anything to make it better. He's shown how his companions become warriors, he sees a genocide committed by alt!him, he's told that he's the Destroyer of Worlds, he sees the woman he loves with a him that's not really a him (way to rub salt in the wound, eh?), he has to destroy what Donna has become for her own good, and everyone just sort of... leaves, without one comforting word.
It's like "Here's what you almost have! *Dangle, dangle, dangle, SNATCH*"
"They've all got someone else" has to be the most frustrating quote ever.

...Also, him playing God with Rose's and Donna's fates is annoying, to say the least.
ETA: 'Cos overall it's pretty brilliant, but when you look at all the pieces, it just gets ANNOYING, man! Rose notices Jack's alive but no one explains (Blue!Ten, anyone?), there's no actual Blue!Ten/Rose bonding, Ianto doesn't even get named (a tiny niggle, I admit), all that weird stuff with the Doctor alone/not alone double-message, the warrior!companion stuff going nowhere, no explanation for what was playing with destiny (I assume Bad Wolf, but it's never really gone into, so are we meant to accept destiny now?), and the Doctor ending up alone and miserable as always.
Yet I still love it.
Though my anger, it is immense.
...This might make me get off my ass and start writing again, because MY FRUSTRATION, IT BURNS. Just... a few changes, a few more scenes, and this episode could've been lovely!
Bah.
Though, on the bright side, Mickey and Martha are definitely going to be replacing Owen and Tosh. And more Mickey and Martha is always good.

Date: 2008-07-06 01:56 am (UTC)I don’t get it. Why didn’t just make the Blue!Ten a Time Lord? Rose just wouldn't have chosen Blue!Ten He wasn't her Doctor! But then she had a fit of Crazy, apparently.
They should have just had Blue!Ten take over Brown!Ten's position as Universal Saviour or what you will, while Brown!Ten got to live happily ever after with Rose. Besides, if they're so much the same person then Blue!Ten would be completely indistinguishable from Brown!Ten and all would be well!
Besides, it'd never work. Blue!Ten won't be any more inclined to hang around without anywhere to go than Brown!Ten is.
