So... they blow Jack up, have him wake up screaming in agony with no skin, drown and trap him in concrete, throw him off a cliff, kill the man he loves, force him to kill his grandson, have him decide that everything bad has been his fault (some of which actually has been, some of which hasn't), and then turn him into an even more maladjusted version of the Doctor?
This is not good drama. This is, "Welcome to Jack's life... IN HELL."
You know what I said about dark vs. Pit Of Complete and Utter Blackness? Yeah. Ignoring Gallifrey for the moment, Day 4 and Day 5 make the Doctor's life seem like butterflies, rainbows, and cherry-flavored lollipops. For no fucking reason but angst and to make Jack leave.
For a season I started off loving, and whose plot and side-characters I thought were brilliant, my supreme hatred of what happens to our main cast is... impressive.
