Should I get one? I don't wanna have ads cluttering up my journal but all those userpics are mighty appealing and there's no way I'm buying meself a paid account...
From what I understand, LJ is an open source / volunteer / non-profit kind of deal, so I highly doubt they will clutter your pages with crass or overbearing advertisements.
I would expect them to put in barely enough to cover their costs.
