Book Suggestions?
Feb. 18th, 2007 12:17 pmHey, guys. As you all may or may not know, for my senior project, I'm planning on writing the beginning of a novel. My project overseer suggested that I have about 10-15% reading (out of four forty-hour weeks), so.... any suggestions on good scifi/fantasy novels? (Those that take place in "our world" but have a dash of fantasy/sci-fi are especially what I'm looking for).
So far, I've got Card's two books on writing sci-fi/fantasy and on character, so just novels is good now. I'm thinking "Timeline" by Crichton for starters, perhaps...
Thanks all!

- Tad Williams' Otherworld series, also good. Not strictly 'our world' but close. Set just a little further into the future, but still pretty recognizable.
- The Women of the Otherworld series (and I wish i could remember the author's name right now) is another good one, although it's a bit on the more paranormal side of fantasy.
Gah! I know I've read more and own more, but all I'm remembering right now are high fantasy, sword and sorcery stuff. If I think of any others, I'll pass them on though. ;-)
