Electronic staplers. Seriously. Electronic staplers. You stick in the paper, they staple.

Now, the idea sounds nifty on the surface right? Look at the wonders of technology and watch the motion detector thing figure out that there's something there! Then watch it stick a thing of metal into the paper, all on its own!

But, um, honestly... how freaking hard is it to press down on a bit of plastic? These things save you one arm motion. That's it. You still have to put the papers together, line them up, stick them in. You just don't have to push down on anything.

And jeez, these things must cost a ridiculous amount. Glad to know my tuition money is going to good use...

What's next, though, electronic page turners? You could potentially save yourself the bother of hundreds of arm motions then!

Silly inventions. *Shakes head*

Tell that to the Administrative Assistant who has to copy, collate, and staple together 56 kajillion copies of the Boss' lame-ass presentation in time for tomorrow's big but useless staff meeting.

You win today's Marie Antoinette Memorial "Let Them Eat Cake" Award. ;P

Okay, fine, it's a legitimate tool there. *Hopes she doesn't get her head cut off :P*

But at my library, it was there in the printer room. Just, if you print something out, they apparently assume you are apparently too lazy to staple it yourself. It's not even faster than a typical stapler, but it was all they had. There is so much else they could have spent money on, and they chose to buy electronic staplers.

It just... doesn't seem worth it. @_@

(I'm not all that bothered by this, really... it just struck me as vaguely ridiculous.)

Yeah, I TAed for a class at our homeschool group (meaning a bunch of homeschool families who get together and hold classes), and even that was a hellalot of stapling....Anything to make it go even a little bit faster is nice.

But I can see the ridiculous side too.

It was just... the placement, I think. As in, we didn't really need them THERE.

I'm sorry you had to staple so much though... yick.

Don't forget the quadriplegic. They need to staple things too.

...But how would they gather up the papers and stick them in the stapler in the first place?

Then they could use their chins to do the final stapling. :P
