I think the fact that I cannot form coherent speech besides ADEWABAGAJEVABASQUEEEEEEEEEEEE (but can apparently type somehow) says a lot. Just…. This whole episode was so well put together (in that the point wasn't the plot so much as our beloved two leads), such a good way to reintroduce the Doctor and Donna to one another, and all the Doctor/Donna interaction (not in that way… which came up and make me happy) made me grin like no other, and it’s so nice hearing all the stuff you know about the Doctor and the other characters and plot points said in the show (like all the Martha stuff, and the friend stuff), and just, just…

*SPAZ*

Oh, and this line broke me. Seriously. I almost started crying:

The Doctor: I had this friend Martha, she was called, Martha Jones. She was brilliant. And I destroyed half her life.

Seriously. Such a wonderful line. I just… Yeah. Poor Ten. He needs a hug. Or several. Maybe unlimited.

And Donna just asking the Doctor slowly what he needed and making him stop flipping out and the “mate” scene were brilliant and lovely and at least the Doctor finally got it, though I wonder whether he figured out Martha was in love before or after she left. And ROSE, ROSE, and you know the juxtaposition with the mate scene was intentional, and just… just…

*Continues spazzing* I’m actually more happy with the Doctor and Donna, as characters and as potential partners and at how RTD wrote them, than at the Rose!

So, yeah, I am mightily pleased and wanting more or to rewatch or just… yeah. So good and so touching and I am very very content and still way too excited and if anyone wants to be my rant buddy right now, I will be thrilled!

See, you manage to write all of that in this wonderfully coherent manner. You just... sum up all your thoughts in these great, well-structured and presented paragraphs.

Meanwhile, I gibber and squee. Very unfair.

But yes... I agree with all your points, and I think the Doctor/Donna dynamic is going to be one of the best parts of S4. I've been eager for it since I first heard Donna announced as the new companion, and this episode managed to surpass my expectations. The Doctor certainly surprassed my expectations by how much he seems to have grown, and especially with his awareness (and the verbal expression of his awareness) of the effect he had on Martha. Still, as always, he's perhaps guilting himself a bit too much. And, as always, he needs more hugs than any human being can ever provide.

Should be interesting to see where it all goes from here, at any rate.

Oh, yes, and the Rose. :D Can't get much better than that, really.
