Okay then...

Ok, so y'all know how I took Creative Writing this past year? Well our teacher had us submit stuff to every contest ever, and apparently, one of my stories was accepted to Susquehanna University's publication of writing by high school kids, "The Apprentice Writer" (o'course, most of my class and loads of other prep school kids got accepted too, but still...). It was odd, since I'd heard nothing about it till I got the actual issue in the mail today. O.o
So, um, yeah, cool.
Now to get my dream story looked over by someone and to try sending it in to someplace slightly more legit... :P
And on a side note, my knitting is progressing well. I can do purl and knit stitches. Now all I need to do is figure out how to knit in the round. @_@
If any of you happen to be experienced knitters, any tips would be appreciated!

Date: 2007-08-29 11:02 am (UTC)Speaking of your writing, I've been swamped by life lately, but I will make some time this weekend to re-read your story and post something meaningful about it.
Re: knitting. In the second volume of The Wizard of Oz series (did you know there were 14 books in the series?), knitting needles figure prominently in the story.
The Land of Oz.

You know, I've never read the Wizard of Oz... and never heard that it was a series. The fact that knitting is a huge plot point is kind of awesome... *Really wants to read it now*

If you go to archive.org and do a search in Texts for L Frank Baum, you will get a whole page of his books, all freely downloadable. The copyright has expired, so his books are now in the public domain.
Anyway, the "Project Gutenberg" versions are text-only. If you want the scanned versions (with illustrations), look for the ones that were scanned by the New York Library. I'm sorry to admit that they did a better job of scanning than the University of California.
So far, only nine of the fourteen volumes have been scanned. I figure by the time I get that far, the other five might be done ... or I'll settle for the text-only versions.
